A spark ignited in 1886 in the realm of real education in India, in the form of DAV movement. Since its inception in 1875 by Swami Dayanand Saraswati , it has become an eternal flame that enlightens the path of knowledge & wisdom there by paving a way for a strong , self- reliant & progressive nation. Swami Dayanand , possessed of sharp intellect & a vision far ahead of his tunes, he realized that salvation lay in educating masses by propagating the real message of Vedas. The philosophy of Swami Dayanand was translated in reality by Mahatma Hans Raj and his selfless, dedicated and enlightened associates who decided to establish an Education Trust to run schools and colleges. Frail of body but possessing heroic spirits, Mahatma Hans Raj voluntarily opted for a life of self denial & renunciation. He started a school in Lahore on 1st June 1886 by the name of DAYANANDA ANGLO VEDIC SCHOOL and as the first Principal of the first DAV institutions offered his honorary services as “ Jeevan Daan” for 25 years.
Today DAV Public School systems in the single largest non- governmental education society in India sheltering 667 institutions, 461 of which are high level institutions which are run by DAV College Trust & Management Society.
